LOZZA COLLECTION
The Lozza Rug originated from a pragmatic challenge: a wine stain in a restaurant interior. When artist Erik Bratsberg approached LAYERED with a pattern designed to "absorb" the marks of daily life, the project shifted from a technical solution into a broader exploration of form and color. The result is a hand-tufted collection born from that editorial dialogue. Lozza moves beyond its utilitarian spark, offering a sophisticated interplay of shapes that feels both intentional and effortless.
“The irregular shape provides far more flexibility than a traditional rectangle and introduces a gentle sense of motion.”

ABOUT ERIK
Erik Bratsberg is an artist and designer working across the fields of art, interiors, and spatial design. With a background in economics and a decade spent in finance, he has since developed an intuitive, material-driven practice where geometry, organic form, and color converge in carefully balanced compositions.
Rendered in wool and defined by fluid, organic silhouettes, the collection draws from Bratsberg’s sculptural wall pieces, where overlapping forms achieve a deliberate balance. The name is derived from the Italian tavolozza, the artist’s palette, referencing both the layered composition and Bratsberg’s study of how color and materiality intersect.
Each rug is composed of three tonal fields. A lighter perimeter serves to lift the surrounding space, while deeper pigments anchor the center. Subtle variations in pile height and tactile detailing introduce a sense of depth. Available in two colorways, the collection is engineered to harmonize with both warm and cool palettes, offering a seamless integration across diverse interior typologies.
