OUR STORY
Our story began when our founder, Malin Glemme, unable to find a sustainably made designer rug of premium quality, decided to create her own. With a background in fashion, Malin was drawn to the intersection of art, design, and craftsmanship.
She designed a rug that reflected her vision and had it woven by an artisans handweaver in Bhadohi, India, renowned for their craftsmanship and authentic hand knotted rugs since the 16th century. When the rug was featured in a Swedish interior design magazine, Malin started to get more and more requests to buy it. So many, in fact, that Malin ended up starting her own interior brand, and Layered was born.

OUR VISION
Our vision is to push Scandinavian design to the forefront of the global interior design scene. Since our founding in 2015, we’ve done this by collaborating with both Scandinavian and international designers and artists.
These partnerships allow us to expand our creative boundaries, blending diverse perspectives and artistic influences to create unique, inspiring products that resonate with customers worldwide. Through these collaborations, we continue to redefine the future of Scandinavian design, while staying true to our commitment to craftsmanship and sustainability.
DESIGN COLLABORATIONS
HANDMADE
All of our rugs are handmade with care and tradition. We collaborate with family-owned suppliers who have a long and proud heritage of craftsmanship in rug production. Our wool rugs are made in Bhadohi, India, a region renowned for its handmade rugs since the 1500s. Our shaggy rugs are crafted in Samarina, Greece, where Flokat rugs have been woven for thousands of years. Through these partnerships, we ensure that each rug is a timeless piece of artistry and quality.
