LAYERED and Swedish artist Evelina Kroon reunite once again in a collection of handcrafted wool rugs – this time paying tribute to the classic rya rug, reinterpreted with generous softness and graphic playfulness.

ABOUT EVELINA
Evelina Kroon is an artist and creative working in the fields of painting, color design, and scenography. Educated at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, she explores the intersection of art, design, and decorative expression – often with a strong connection to traditionally female craft practices. Her work is defined by a graphic, at times exuberant aesthetic, balancing strict structure with playful eclecticism.
The collection consists of five handwoven rya rugs made from 100% New Zealand wool, inspired by the traditional Scandinavian rya rug – a long-pile wool rug with roots in 15th-century Norway. With a distinctly graphic expression, Evelina continues to explore the intersection of art and interiors – this time with a focus on tactility, volume, and rhythm.
LAYERED and Evelina Kroon’s first collaboration was launched in 2022 with a collection of tufted wool rugs. Since then, the collection has expanded to include a series of jute rugs, oversized mohair throws, and most recently, handwoven rya rugs made from 100% New Zealand wool – all featuring Evelina’s distinctive graphic expression.
